The Category term allows searches of services and licenses across state agencies. For example, the Category "Children and Youth Services" will provide you with a list of services and licenses offered by one or more state agencies that have contributed records to this Directory.

 

Name Description
Administrative Hearings Describes a legal proceeding before an impartial administrative law judge designed to review a state or local agency decision. Each party to an administrative hearing has a right to present and question witnesses, and submit or challenge documents regarding the decision. The result of the proceeding is a decision to affirm, modify, or set aside the original agency decision.

Business Assistance Describes state services that provide assistance to resident businesses, manufacturing and industrial facilities and efforts to retain, expand, and attract them. Includes financing, incentives, workforce training, site selection, and application procedures. Includes also assistance to small businesses.

Education Describes the process of formal education in these specific stages: elementary, high school, and higher education. This category also includes vocational and technical schools that prepare students for technical, trade, service and industrial occupations.

Health Care Describes the public (national, state, local) aspects of medicine. Includes regulation of medical education and practice; health status indicators, vital statistics and surveys; preventive medicine; health care services; diseases and addictive disorders; hospitals and clinics.
Information Describes the services involved in providing public access to information and statistics of a general, governmental, or non-governmental nature.
Labor Describes services that pertain to the labor force, including employment, unemployment, earnings, hours of work, employee benefits, and work schedules.
Legislation Describes the process of making or giving of laws by an official body of the state.
Licenses, Permits, and Leases Describes the process of applying for licenses, permits, and leases and identifies the granting authorities and documents needed to apply for them.
Maps Describes the representation of the selected features or detail of the whole or part of a physical area that indicates the nature, relative position, and size according to a chosen scale or projection. Includes maps in various formats: for example, paper, digital, orthoimagery.
Natural resources Describes agricultural, forest, mineral, wildlife, coastal, and energy resources. Includes conservation efforts.
Procurement and Purchasing Describes the process by which the state obtains and bids for services, equipment, and supplies in an official capacity. Includes the standardization of procedures, supervision, and legal requirements of the procurement and purchasing processes. It also includes assistance provided to vendors who wish to do business with the State of Louisiana.
Public Safety Describes specialized services to promote public safety and enhance state and local law enforcement. Functions include state police functions (traffic enforcement, criminal and narcotics investigations, crime analysis, gaming regulations), licensing and registration of motor vehicles and drivers, promotion of highway and fire safety, and regulation of liquefied pertroleum gas handling and distribution. Revenue Describes the annual or periodical yield of taxes, excises, customs, duties, and other sources of income that a state collects for public use.
Senior Services Describes specialized services and support for senior citizens. Includes senior and retirement centers; financial, legal, nutrition and energy assistance; educational and recreational programs; adult foster care and assisted living; and medicare.
Social Services Describes tax-supported social support services provided by federal, state, and local entities. Includes public assistance programs, transfer payments, welfare to work programs, health and medical care, adoption, and anti-poverty activites.
Taxation Describes the process of imposing a contribution of wealth to meet the public needs of government. Includes filing instructions, publications, and tax forms.
Tourism Describes the economic activity associated with the management and provision of activities and facilities for those who travel for recreation. Includes governmental and non-governmental efforts; visitors` centers, parks and recreation centers.
Transportation Describes the process of moving passengers or goods from one place to another. Includes transportation types (motor vehicles, urban transportation, air, rail, water, and freight) and infrastructure (roads, highways, bridges, airports, and shipping ports).
