Description: The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality's (DEQ) surface water monitoring program is designed to gather chemical and pollutant data used in the development of state water quality standards and to provide a data base for determining a water body`s support of beneficial uses, such as swimming and fishing. Information is also used to establish permit limits for wastewater discharges.
