Education Estimating Conference

The Education Estimating Conference was created in statute to "develop such official information relating to the state public educational system, including forecasts of student enrollment and the availability of qualified teachers." The Education Estimating Conference meets periodically at the direction of the presiding officer. Data considered by the members along with meeting minutes, agendas, and information on the members are available on this site.

As per Louisiana R.S. 39:21.3, the Education Estimating Conference consists of the following members:

  • A staff member from the office of the governor to be appointed by the governor.
  • A staff member from the office of state planning or the division of administration to be appointed by the commissioner of administration.
  • A member of the professional staff of the legislature who shall have forecasting expertise to be appointed by the president of the Senate.
  • A member of the professional staff of the legislature who shall have forecasting expertise to be appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives.
  • A member of the professional staff of the Department of Education who shall have forecasting expertise to be appointed by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The member representing the Office of the Governor serves as the presiding officer.
