| Purpose/Function | The mission of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners is to protect and improve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Louisiana through licensing, regulation, research, and discipline of physicians and allied health professionals in a manner that protects the rights and privileges of the licensees. |
| Budget Message | The Board continues to meet licensure demands. These expenses, the ever increasing costs to investigate and prosecute violations of the practice Acts, the responsibilities of the Board to serve on committees to address joint issues of concerns, development of educational programs, conversion to online processes and the unstable economy, will continue to make clear the Board's need to maintain financial position in which it can meets its operational costs and an established surplus. It should be noted that expenses of advisory committees authorized under the statutes (Respiratory Care, R.S., 37:3356; Physician Assistants, R.S., 37:1270.1, Occupational Therapy, Medical Psychology, etc) are included in the Board's budget. |
