Purpose/Function The Louisiana Sickle Cell Commission shall ensure the delivery of sickle cell services to affected persons in all parishes in Louisiana and assist in establishing geographical service delivery boundaries. The Commission will also promulgate guidelines for uniformity in the delivery of services and the management of statewide programs.

Notes 10/27/2017- According to Act No. 117 (Senate Bill 57) of the 2013 Regular Legislative Session, Non-legislative members of the Louisiana Sickle Cell Commission shall not be entitled to a per diem, but shall be reimbursed of any reasonable expense including travel expenses. The Louisiana Sickle Cell Commission continues to pursue funding opportunities, however the commission does hot have a budget. The traveler was reimbursed by the Genetic Diseases Program which provides administrative support to the Commission, but the program does not supply funding. The Commission is hoping to receive funding in the upcoming year.
